Jamaat holds meeting with IRI delegation

A two-member delegation of Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami today held a meeting with a delegation of the Washington-based International Republican Institute (IRI) at a hotel in the city.

During the meeting, they discussed various issues including Bangladesh's democracy, democratic values and development, and improvement of democracy, said a Jamaat press release.

The meeting also expressed their firm commitment to work together for the development of democracy and democratic institutions in Bangladesh in the days to come.

Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami was represented by its Central Executive Council Member and Central Publicity and Media Wing Secretary Matiur Rahman Akand and Central Working Council Member Advocate Jasim Uddin Sarker, reports UNB.

The IRI delegation including senior program manager of Bangladesh office Amitabh Ghosh, Resident Program Director of Malaysia Office Brayan R Bron and Acting Resident Program Director of Bangladesh Office Joshua Rosenblum attended the meeting.
