Dhaka, Sept 14 --BNP has decided to shift Sunday's Naya Paltan rally marking International Democracy Day, to Tuesday, September 17 due to inclement weather.

BNP Standing Committee Member and convener of the programme preparation committee, Dr. AZM Zahid Hossain, confirmed this on Saturday.

"All the preparations were done. But the date has been changed due to adverse weather," he added.

BNP Acting Chairman Tarique Rahman was supposed to address the Naya Paltan rally virtually from London.

Earlier on Wednesday, BNP announced a two-day programme to pay homage in memory of those who were killed in the movements against authoritarian rule over the past 17 years and to mark International Democracy Day.

Of the programmes, a memorial rally was held at the Central Shaheed Minar on September 14 (Saturday). - UNB
