Meherpur, Oct 2 - The Rapid Action Battalion (RAB) arrested Sanwar Hossain Bablu, President of the Gangni Municipality unit of Awami League, and Nabir Uddin, Vice-President of the Gangni Jubo League, on Tuesday night.

Nabir Uddin, 55, a former acting mayor of Gangni municipality, was apprehended from his business establishment in the local marketplace. Sanwar Hossain Bablu was arrested at his residence near Women’s College. Separate RAB teams executed the coordinated operations in Gangni.

Senior Assistant Superintendent of Police (ASP) Enamul Haque, commander of RAB-12’s CPC-3 Gangni camp, confirmed the arrests.

He said that the arrests were made based on specific allegations and tip-offs. Two mobile phones used by the suspects were seized during the operations.

Both individuals will undergo initial questioning at the RAB camp. Further details will be formally announced on Wednesday morning, the RAB commander added. - UNB
