Arrest

Hizbut Tahrir Bangladesh has deplored the arrest of its member Imtiaz Selim on October 4 early hours as the reason behind the action has been mentioned as participation in the activities of the party.

In a press release the party said the erstwhile Hasina government had imposed a ban on the party in 2009 by issuing just a press note when its was strongly protesting the Pilkhana carnage. Hizbut Tahrir blamed the government of neighbouring country, India, for making baseless allegations against the party and said the action of the last government was based on that.

It said the party appealed to the Interim Government to lift the ban that the party called unjust, but the action taken its worker Imtiaz Selim looks guided by the policy of the Hasina government which was unexpected. The action looked like pleasing the neighbouring country that Hizbut Tahrir criticized. – Press release
