BNP leaders Tariqul, Khoka's death anniversary Monday

Dhaka, Nov 3 - The sixth death anniversary of BNP leader and former minister Tariqul Islam will be observed on Monday with due respect.

Besides, the fifth death anniversary of the former mayor of the undivided Dhaka City Corporation and BNP vice-chairman Sadeque Hossain Khoka will be observed on the same day.

Jashore BNP and Tariqul Islam Smriti Sangsad have worked out various programmes, including discussion, doa mahfil and Qurankhwani, to mark the death anniversary of Tariqul.

Local BNP leaders and people from all walks of life will place wreaths at Tariqul's grave in Jashore and offer fateha there in the morning.

Jashore district unit of BNP will arrange a doa mahfil at its office on the day seeking eternal peace of the departed soul.

On November 4, 2018, Tariqul died at Apollo Hospital in the capital at the age of 73. He was buried at Karbala graveyard in Jashore district town the following day.

Meanwhile, Sadeque Hossain Khoka Parishad and BNP have taken various programmes, including placing wreaths, holding discussion, doa mahfil and Qurankhwani and arranging food distribution, to observe the fifth death anniversary of the late Dhaka city mayor and former minister.

BNP leaders, activists, and followers of Khoka will place wreaths at his Jurain graveyard in the city and offer fateha there at 10am on Monday.

Meanwhile, Dhaka South City unit BNP organised  a memorial programme at the Institution of Engineers, Bangladesh on Sunday, marking the death anniversary of Sadeque Hossain Khoka.

On November 4, 2019, Khoka, a freedom fighter, died in the US at the age of 67.

Born on May 12, 1952, in Munshiganj, Khoka was a guerilla freedom fighter during the Liberation War of Bangladesh in 1971. - UNB
