Qamrul, Dipu, Salman, and 11 Others Arrested in Murder Cases

A Dhaka court today ordered the arrest of 13 individuals, including former private industry affairs adviser Salman F. Rahman, former food minister Advocate Qamrul Islam, and former law minister Anisul Huq, in connection with fresh murder cases filed across various police stations in the capital.


The arrested include Dr. Dipu Moni, Anisul Huq, Zunaid Ahmed Palak, Rashed Khan Menon, Hasanul Haque Inu, Haji Mohammad Salim, former police chiefs Chowdhury Abdullah Al-Mamun and Shahidul Haque, ABM Fazle Karim, Jamal Mostafa, and Chowdhury Jahangir Alam.

The order was issued by Dhaka Additional Chief Metropolitan Magistrate Md Ziadur Rahman after police presented the accused in court and requested their arrest in the respective cases. The court then remanded the 13 back to jail.

Anisul Huq was shown arrested in seven murder cases filed with Jatrabari Police Station and one filed with Mohammadpur Police Station, in addition to a corruption case filed by the Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC). Qamrul Islam faced arrest in a murder case filed with Adabor Police Station, while Dipu Moni was arrested in two murder cases filed with Jatrabari Police Station.

Salman F. Rahman was implicated in four murder cases related to Jatrabari killings and another filed with Mohammadpur Police Station. Former ministers Hasanul Haque Inu and Rashed Khan Menon were arrested in five murder cases filed with Jatrabari Police Station.

Zunaid Ahmed Palak, former state minister for ICT, was arrested in two Jatrabari murder cases and another in Sutrapur Police Station. Former police chiefs Abdullah Al-Mamun and Shahidul Haque were shown arrested in multiple murder cases spanning Jatrabari, Mohammadpur, and Sutrapur police stations.

Other arrestees include ABM Fazle Karim, who faced arrest in two murder cases, Jamal Mostafa, implicated in a Bhashantek murder case and an attempted murder case, and Chowdhury Jahangir Alam, arrested in a Jatrabari murder case.
