The nationwide crackdown, dubbed ‘Operation Devil Hunt,’ will persist until all those threatening national stability are apprehended, declared Home Affairs Adviser Lt Gen (retd) Md Jahangir Alam Chowdhury on Sunday.

In his statement, Jahangir Alam emphasized that the operation specifically targets individuals intent on destabilizing the country. "This operation is crucial to protecting the peace and security of the nation," he said.

The remarks came during the inauguration of the newly-built "Mrittika Bhaban" at the Soil Resource Development Institute in Khamarbari, Dhaka.

Addressing recent violence, Jahangir Alam pointed out that many individuals responsible for the attack on students and citizens in Gazipur have already been apprehended. "Those involved in the attacks will face justice, and the remaining perpetrators will be caught soon," he added.

The crackdown follows a violent incident on Friday night when students were assaulted at the residence of former minister AKM Mozammel Haque in Gazipur. In response, the government launched "Operation Devil Hunt" on Saturday night, deploying joint forces to apprehend suspects.

According to Gazipur Superintendent of Police Dr. Chowdhury Jaber Sadek, 40 individuals, believed to be affiliated with the Awami League, have been arrested so far in connection with the attacks.

Regarding the arrest of five senior police officers, Jahangir Alam remarked that the public is well aware of the serious crimes committed by those arrested, underscoring the government's commitment to accountability and justice.
