BNP Secretary General Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir has warned of a new conspiracy being plotted to destabilize Bangladesh, threatening the nation's security and sovereignty.

Speaking at an iftar gathering hosted by the BNP Media Cell at the Ladies Club, Fakhrul accused certain forces of working to undermine the country's vital institutions, particularly the military, which has long been a symbol of national strength and unity.

"All key institutions that safeguard our independence and sovereignty are being deliberately targeted and made controversial. The army, in particular, is being dragged into a smear campaign," Fakhrul stated.

BNP's Acting Chairman, Tarique Rahman, addressed the gathering virtually from London, reiterating that the conspiracy serves no purpose other than to jeopardize Bangladesh's sovereignty and stability, echoing the oppressive tactics of past fascist regimes.

“This plot aims to leave the nation vulnerable and unprotected,” Fakhrul continued. “A malicious effort is underway to tarnish the reputation of our patriotic army, which has stood by the nation during its most critical moments."

Fakhrul also highlighted the vital role of journalists as the nation’s conscience, noting that they have consistently supported Bangladesh through turbulent times. He called on the media to help expose and counter the ongoing smear campaign against the BNP.

“We need the solidarity of journalists in this fight against misinformation, as we stand together to protect the nation's integrity,” he urged.
