BNP Senior Joint Secretary General Ruhul Kabir Rizvi Ahmed today expressed deep concern, accusing the allies of the ousted dictator of conspiring to destabilize the interim government.

“The fallen dictator’s allies are trying to create trouble for the government, and this situation cannot be allowed to continue,” Rizvi said during a gathering where he distributed Eid gifts on behalf of the party’s acting chairman Tarique Rahman to the families of victims of enforced disappearances and murders. The event was organized by the Dhaka South City Unit of Jatiyatabadi Chhatra Dal (JCD).

Rizvi accused the allies of Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina of still holding influential positions within the administration, conspiring to destabilize the country. He was highly critical of the interim government, pointing out that many BNP leaders and activists have been victims of enforced disappearances and killings during the last 16 years of anti-fascist movements, with no action taken by the current government.

“The grief of these families is invisible to the government... Only the families can truly understand their pain,” Rizvi remarked.

He also highlighted the hardships faced by the families of 17-18 rickshaw workers who died during the July movement, noting their children are struggling to pay tuition fees. “It is the government’s responsibility to rehabilitate these families,” he added.

The BNP leader further criticized the delay in arranging national elections and reforms, alleging that the interim government is hindering progress in this regard.

The event was presided over by Dhaka Metropolitan South Chhatra Dal Convener Shamim Mahmud. Other speakers included JCD Central President Rakibul Islam Rakib, Vice President Dr. Abdul Awal, and member secretary Abdur Rahim.
