On Monday, Chief Adviser Professor Muhammad Yunus made a heartfelt vow to build a new Bangladesh rooted in permanent unity, despite the numerous challenges the nation faces.
“Despite the countless obstacles, we will build a new Bangladesh as a united nation,” he declared, emphasizing the importance of national solidarity. Dr. Yunus made these remarks after offering Eid-ul-Fitr prayers at the National Eidgah Maidan, following which he addressed the crowd before delivering the Monajat.
In a separate event, over 600,000 devotees gathered to offer their Eid prayers at Kishoreganj's Sholakia ground, marking a significant display of national devotion.
Dr. Yunus called for unity on this auspicious Eid day, reminding the people that Eid is a day to bridge divides, foster closeness, and spread love. "Let us celebrate this day with deep affection for one another. Let us convey the message of love and unity to everyone," he said.
He expressed confidence in realizing the dream of a united Bangladesh, adding, “Despite hundreds of obstacles, no matter what challenges we face, we will build a new Bangladesh as a united nation, Inshallah."
Dr. Yunus also spoke of the crucial need to establish an enduring unity. "Today, we pray that the closeness we have started—this unity—may be permanent for the nation so that we can move forward together," he stated.
He also took a moment to remember the sacrifices made by those who fought for the dream of a new Bangladesh. "Let us pray for those who have given their lives for this cause, and for those still living, but unable to lead normal lives due to their sacrifices," he added.
At the beginning of his address, Prof. Yunus greeted the nation with heartfelt Eid wishes: “Eid Mubarak! Today, Eid prayers are being held across every village, town, and city in Bangladesh. On behalf of the nation, we extend Eid Mubarak to all those who are part of this congregation,” he said. He also sent his greetings to those unable to attend the prayers, including mothers, sisters, and the expatriates working abroad. “Our expatriate workers, who have toiled throughout the year and may not be able to join the Eid congregations, are also in our thoughts. We extend Eid Mubarak to them,” he said.
Dr. Yunus emphasized that the nation has not forgotten its citizens abroad, extending his Eid wishes to Bangladeshis living in different countries, as well as to those who are unable to attend due to illness or other reasons.
The Chief Adviser also paid tribute to the martyrs of the July movement, remembering their heroic sacrifices for the creation of a new Bangladesh. "Let us pray for the forgiveness of their souls and ask Allah to grant peace to those who have been injured, deprived of normal lives, or forced to make sacrifices for this country," he said.
The Eid prayers were attended by various members of the Council of Advisers, political leaders, and people from all walks of life, reflecting the widespread participation in this moment of national unity and reflection.
