BNP Secretary General Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir has expressed hope that the bilateral meeting between Chief Adviser Muhammad Yunus and Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi will result in positive outcomes for the people of both Bangladesh and India.

“This meeting will undoubtedly benefit the people of both Bangladesh and India,” he said, responding to reporters at BNP Chairperson’s Gulshan office on Friday evening.

Prof. Yunus and Modi held their first bilateral meeting on the sidelines of the BIMSTEC summit in Bangkok on Friday morning.

Fakhrul noted that the meeting has instilled a sense of optimism in the future of bilateral relations. "This meeting has created a ray of hope," he said, adding that it could help ease the tensions that had developed between the two countries.

"The meeting holds the potential to prevent further escalation of bitterness in relations, and may even help to reduce existing tensions," he explained.
