BNP Chairperson Khaleda Zia is set to return to Bangladesh from London on 5 May by a special air ambulance provided by the Emir of Qatar, according to party Secretary General Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir.
Initially, it was planned that she would return on a Biman Bangladesh Airlines flight due to the unavailability of an air ambulance. However, Fakhrul told reporters on Saturday that the plan had changed at the last moment.
Khaleda will be accompanied by her two daughters-in-law, Zubaida Rahman and Sharmila Rahman, on her return journey.
"Everyone is excited and ready to welcome the BNP chairperson," Fakhrul said, urging the public to avoid the airport-to-Kakoli road and instead use the elevated expressway during her arrival.
Khaleda Zia travelled to London on 8 January in a special air ambulance sent by the Emir of Qatar for advanced treatment. She was admitted to the London Clinic and later transferred to her elder son Tarique Rahman’s residence on 25 January.
This year, she celebrated Eid in London with her family for the first time in over five years.
