Health Reform Commission Submits Report to CA

The Health Sector Reform Commission submitted its final report to Chief Adviser Professor Muhammad Yunus on Sunday.

Led by Commission Chair Professor AK Azad Khan, the delegation handed over the report at around 11:00am during a meeting at the State Guest House Jamuna in the capital, according to Deputy Press Secretary to the Chief Adviser, Abul Kalam Azad Majumder.

The 12-member commission, formed in November 2024, includes Prof AK Azad Khan, President of the Diabetic Association of Bangladesh; Prof Md Muhammad Zakir Hossain of BSMMU’s Public Health and Health Informatics Department; Prof Dr Liaquat Ali, Chairman of Pothikrit Foundation; Prof Dr Sayera Akther, gynaecologist; Prof Dr Naila Zaman Khan, Paediatric Neurologist; MM Reza, former secretary; Prof Dr Muzaherul Huq, former WHO regional adviser; Dr Azharul Islam and Dr Ahmed Ahsanur Rahman of ICDDR,B; Prof Dr Syed Md Akram Hossain of Square Cancer Centre, Square Hospital; Prof Dr Syed Atiqul Haque, chief consultant at Green Life Centre for Rheumatic Care and Research; and Omair Afif, a student of Dhaka Medical College.

The report is expected to serve as a roadmap for comprehensive reform in the country’s healthcare system.
