The Dhaka Metropolitan North unit of Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami staged a protest rally in Mirpur on Wednesday afternoon, condemning the attack on National Citizen Party (NCP) leaders in Gopalganj earlier the same day.

The rally was led by Mohammad Selim Uddin, a central executive council member and Ameer of Dhaka Metropolitan North Jamaat.

Addressing the gathering, Selim Uddin said Gopalganj had been "drenched in blood" due to repeated failures of the government and the Home Ministry. He alleged that the attackers dared to carry out such a brutal assault because no arrests had been made.

He warned that if law and order in Gopalganj were not restored within 24 hours and action taken against the attackers, the party would launch a larger movement.

Several other leaders, including Central Majlis-e-Shura member Dr. Fakhruddin Manik, Ziaul Hasan, Engineer Kazi Abid Hasan Siddiqui, Dr. Asaduzzaman Kabul, and Shah Alam Tuhin, were present at the protest.

Meanwhile, the Dhaka University unit of Islami Chhatra Shibir held a separate protest march in the evening, condemning the same incident. Starting from the central mosque premises around 7:30 pm, the procession moved through Raju Sculpture and VC Square before concluding with a brief rally.
