Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami Secretary General Prof. Mia Golam Parwar today urged the government to hold the next general election under Proportional Representation (PR) system.

“PR system is the most acceptable and neutral among the exiting electoral systems in the present world. This system will prevent use of black-money, power politics and nomination trade during election period,” he said when talking to media after inaugurating a workshop here.

In this connection, he said every vote will be evaluated and an accountable and transparent parliament will be formed through this system.
Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami organized the leadership training workshop program at the District Council auditorium here this morning.

Giving details, Golam Parwar said that currently 91 countries across the world support PR electoral system.

“PR System is not a new demand from our part...Our former leaders suggested two systems one is caretaker government and another is PR system,” he said expressing the hope that the next election would be held under PR electoral system.

Jamaat's Central Executive Council Member Mubarak Hossain, former District Ameer Mirza Ashek Elahi, District Ameer Adv. Ataur Rahman Bachchu, Secretary Maulana Md. Obaidullah Kaiser were present at the function, among others, reports BSS.
