Gono Odhikar Parishad President Nurul Haque Nur was hospitalised on Friday night following a clash between his party’s activists and those of the Jatiya Party in front of the Gono Odhikar Parishad office.

A video posted on Nur’s official Facebook page showed him being carried on a stretcher, visibly injured and bleeding, as he was rushed to hospital.

The incident escalated into a series of confrontations outside the Jatiya Party’s central office in the Kakrail area, with rival groups engaging in brick-throwing and chase-and-counter-chase violence.

According to Jatiya Party activists, Gono Odhikar Parishad members attacked them during a procession. In contrast, leaders from Gono Odhikar Parishad alleged that JaPa supporters initiated the violence by throwing bricks.

Following the clashes, a large contingent of law enforcement personnel, including police and army, arrived at the scene to restore order.

One Gono Odhikar Parishad activist demanded a ban on Jatiya Party activities, accusing the party of collaborating with the Awami League to maintain its rule.
