Election Commissioner Md Anwarul Islam Sarker today said that the demand for the Proportional Representation (PR) system and complications regarding a political party's symbol will not affect organizing the election.

"The Election Commission (EC) is always prepared for the National Parliament Election," he said while speaking to reporters after inaugurating a workshop at Shaheed Satu Auditorium in the district.

Anwarul Islam emphasized the constitutional role of the institution, saying that the EC operates strictly within legal boundaries.

"The Election Commission is a constitutional institution," he stated, confirming that all activities are being and will be conducted according to existing laws.

He asserted that the commission cannot and will not act outside the law.

In a measure aimed at improving electoral integrity, the commissioner revealed that the EC is taking decisive action against past offenders.

Responding to a question from reporters, he explained that based on past experience, individuals who were involved in irregularities or illegal activities in previous elections will be kept away from electoral duties this time, reports BSS.

The workshop focused on "Identifying challenges and ways to overcome those in the performance of duties by polling officials in the election process."
