
"They still praise Ziaur Rahman and Begum Khaleda Zia, while referring to Sheikh Hasina as 'Kazzab'," Anee said while addressing a courtyard meeting with women voters in Bhabaniganj Union of Lakshmipur Sadar upazila.
He described Ziaur Rahman as a respected leader of the Muslim Ummah and a popular figure both domestically and internationally.
He also highlighted Ziaur Rahman's role as a leader during the Liberation War, noting that he fought on the battlefield and guided freedom fighters.
Reflecting on his own political journey, Anee said he had been imprisoned multiple times during his student politics years, survived gunfire attacks and witnessed the vandalism of his home.
He added that his two sons had faced harassment and he had once been arrested from his residence and beaten in police custody.
"Yet I did not bow down. I am not someone who surrenders to injustice," he affirmed.
The meeting was attended by District BNP members Hafizur Rahman and Abul Hashem, Sadar (East) Upazila BNP President Main Uddin Chowdhury Riaz, District Olama Dal President Shah Md. Emran, District Mohila Dal President Sabera Anwar, General Secretary Fatema Akter Sumi Bhuiyan, and others, reports BSS.
