BNP Acting Chairman Tarique Rahman returned to his Gulshan residence on Wednesday night (December 25), marking his homecoming after more than 17 years in exile.

A convoy carrying Tarique reached Gulshan Avenue in front of house number 196 at around 8:30pm. He entered the residence accompanied by his wife, Dr Zubaida Rahman, and their daughter, Zaima Rahman.

The Gulshan house had been prepared in advance for his stay. It is located next to “Firoza,” the long-time residence of his mother, BNP Chairperson and former prime minister Khaleda Zia.

Earlier in the evening, Tarique left Evercare Hospital at about 7:30pm after visiting his ailing mother. He had gone to her cabin around 6pm along with his wife and daughter.

Tarique, his wife and daughter arrived in Dhaka earlier in the day, landing at Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport at 11:40am after more than 17 years in London.

Following his arrival, he addressed a large reception rally at Purbachal’s 300 Feet Road, attended by thousands of supporters and party leaders, before proceeding to visit his mother at the hospital.
