Members of parliament elected in the 13th National Parliamentary Election will be sworn in by 17 February at the latest, Press Secretary to the Chief Adviser Shafiqul Alam has said.

Speaking to journalists at the Foreign Service Academy in the capital on Saturday, he confirmed that the oath-taking process would be completed within the next few days.

“You asked about the swearing-in. It will be done very soon. At the latest, it will take place on the 16th or 17th. It will not go beyond that,” he said.

Alam noted that preparations for the ceremony began the day after the election results were finalised.

He, however, did not specify who would administer the oath in the absence of a Speaker. Further details about the process will be announced in due course, he added.
