BNP Standing Committee Member and newly elected Parliament  Member (MP) Salahuddin Ahmed today said his  party has welcomed the decision to form an opposition shadow cabinet.

He said, "The Election Commission has the mandate for the election of Members of Parliament and the election of the President. In the absence of a Speaker and Deputy Speaker, the Chief Election Commissioner can administer the oath to the MPs. Accordingly; the CEC will administer the oath to the MPs tomorrow."

Salahuddin Ahmed made the remarks while talking to media this afternoon in front of the BNP's Gulshan office.

Regarding the oath for the Reform Council, he commented, "In the existing constitution, the CEC does not have the authority to administer the oath for a Constitution Reform Council. If that is incorporated into the constitution, if the constitution is amended and it is determined who will administer the oath, then the oath for the Constitution Reform Council can take place."

Another Standing Committee Member Amir Khasru Mahmud Chowdhury said, "There are challenges in every division of the country. All systems, including the economy, education, and healthcare, have broken down."

He also stated that he does not know yet anything about who among the ministers will be assigned what portfolio, reports BSS.
