Dhaka, 29 October: The Ministry of Environment, Forest and Climate Change has formed a five-member committee to monitor the ban on polythene shopping bags. This initiative, spearheaded by the ministry's Advisor Syeda Rizwana Hasan, aims to ensure the effective implementation of the polythene ban.

The committee is chaired by the Additional Secretary (Environment Pollution Control and Law Division) of the ministry. Other members include the Joint Secretary (Environment-1), Deputy Secretary (Environment Pollution Control-1 and 2) and the Senior Assistant Secretary (Environment-3).

Starting November 1, the committee will monitor the nationwide enforcement operations to enforce the polythene ban.
