Shamima elected ARB president, Shariful secy

Atomic Reporters Bangladesh (ARB), a professional organisation of journalists covering science, technology and nuclear affairs, has elected Shamima Sultana (Labu), Senior Reporter at Channel 24, as its president and Vital Bangla Editor AKM Shariful Islam as its secretary for the 2026-28 term.


The new executive committee was elected at the organisation's biennial general meeting held at a restaurant in Dhaka's Karwan Bazar on Tuesday.

The election results were announced by Chief Election Commissioner Mursalin Haque Zonaed, general secretary of the Technology Media Guild Bangladesh (TMGB).

The other elected office-bearers are Abul Kalam Azad (BBC Bangla) as vice-president, Jahed Selim (Machranga Television) as joint secretary, Shah Ali Joy (News24 TV) as organising secretary, Mahmudul Hasan (Star News) as treasurer, Ashraful Islam Rana (freelance journalist) as office secretary, and Faruk Bhuiyan Robin (Somoy TV) as communication, training and research secretary, reports UNB.

The newly elected executive members are Ariful Sajjat (Channel 71), Debashish Roy (Somoy TV) and Md Mujahirul Haque Rumen (Channel 71).
