Karamot Ullah Biplob, the Secretary General of the South Asian Climate Change Journalists Forum, has made history by becoming the first Bangladeshi journalist to be awarded the prestigious UAE Golden Residency Visa.

Biplob was honored in the "Expert Journalist" category by the UAE Media Council in recognition of his outstanding contributions to journalism, particularly his coverage of migrant worker issues and climate change. His impactful reporting has earned him widespread acclaim both within the region and internationally.

The Golden Residency Visa offers long-term residency and access to a wide range of benefits, including opportunities in education, healthcare, business, and invitations to key government events.

A spokesperson for the Media Council emphasized that Biplob’s recognition highlights the UAE government’s commitment to supporting humanitarian journalism and encouraging professionals who contribute to meaningful change.

"I am deeply grateful for this recognition," Biplob shared, reflecting on his pride in his Bangladeshi heritage. "Though I have received this honor, Bangladesh will always remain in my heart. This award is a testament to the value of journalism and the significant role it plays in society."

The UAE Golden Visa, designed to attract and retain exceptional talent, has previously been granted to prominent figures such as Bollywood stars Rajinikanth, Shah Rukh Khan, and Sanjay Dutt, as well as tennis icon Sania Mirza.

Journalist organizations and colleagues have offered their congratulations to Biplob, celebrating this remarkable achievement in the field of journalism.
