Professor Muhammad Yunus, Chief Adviser of Bangladesh, was conferred an honorary doctorate by Peking University (PKU) in a prestigious ceremony held this morning at the university's conference hall in Beijing. The honor recognizes his significant contributions to social entrepreneurship and poverty alleviation through the Grameen Bank, as well as his global influence in promoting financial inclusion.

In addition to receiving the honorary degree, Prof. Yunus delivered an insightful lecture to the university's faculty and students, sharing his vision on social business and the role of entrepreneurship in solving global challenges. His lecture was met with great interest, as he discussed innovative approaches to addressing poverty and empowering communities through sustainable, market-driven solutions.

The ceremony was attended by several dignitaries, including He Guangcai, the Chair of the Peking University Council, along with other prominent officials and academic leaders from PKU. The event highlighted the university's continued commitment to recognizing individuals who have made remarkable contributions to societal progress and global development.

Prof. Yunus is wrapping up his four-day visit to China, where he engaged in discussions on various collaborative initiatives between Bangladesh and China. Following the ceremony, he is scheduled to return to Bangladesh later this evening.

The honorary doctorate from Peking University adds to a long list of accolades for Prof. Yunus, who has previously been awarded the Nobel Peace Prize for his pioneering work in microfinance and social entrepreneurship.
