The Bangladesh Meteorological Department has predicted rains or thundershowers in parts of the country, including Dhaka, and a drop in temperature this week.

Rains and thundershowers are expected in Chittagong, Sylhet, Mymensingh and some other parts of the country, including Dhaka division, from Thursday, Dr Abdul Kalam Mollik, a meteorologist at the BMD, told UNB on Monday.
The temperature will come down due to rainfall, he said.
“A very severe heatwave is sweeping across Jessore and Rajshahi districts, and a severe heatwave is prevailing in parts of Khulna division and Tangail, Faridpur, Gopalgonj, Naogaon, Pabna and Nilphamari districts. A mild to moderate heatwave is sweeping over Barisal division, parts of Dhaka, Rajshahi and Rangpur divisions and Mymensingh, Moulvibazar, Rangamati, Chandpur, Noakhali, Feni and Bandarban districts,” reads a BMD bulletin.
Rain or thundershowers accompanied by temporary gusty/squally wind are likely at one or two places in Chittagong and Sylhet divisions with hails at isolated places, it said.
The weather may remain mainly dry with temporary partly cloudy skies elsewhere.
Day temperature may rise slightly and night temperature may remain nearly unchanged, reports DT.
Due to an increase in moisture incursion, discomfort may persist, it said.
The highest temperature in the country on Sunday was 42.2 degrees Celsius in Jessore.
Eighteen millimetres of rain was recorded in Sunmaganj till 6am on Monday.
