BMD forecasts heavy rains in Rangpur, Mymensingh, Sylhet divisions



Dhaka, July 14 - Bangladesh Meteorological Department (BMD) has predicted rain or thundershowers in all divisions of the country, including heavy showers in three divisions commencing 9 am on Sunday.

“Light to moderate rain or thunder showers accompanied by temporary gusty wind is likely at many places over Rangpur, Mymensingh and Sylhet divisions and at one or two places over Rajshahi, Dhaka Khulna, Barishal and Chattogram divisions with moderately heavy to heavy falls at places over Rangpur, Mymensingh and Sylhet divisions,” said a Met office bulletin.

Country’s highest 51 mm rainfall was recorded in Khulna’s Mongla in 24 hrs till 6am on Sunday.

The axis of monsoon trough runs through Punjab, Haryana, Uttar Pradesh, Bihar, and West Bengal to Assam across northern part of Bangladesh. One of it's associated troughs extends up to North Bay. Monsoon is fairly active over Bangladesh and moderate over North Bay.
