Ctg urea fertilizer factory stops production

The state-owned Chattrogram Urea Fertilizer Ltd (CUFL) has temporarily stopped its production due to acute shortage of gas.



The state-owned Chattrogram Urea Fertilizer Ltd (CUFL) has temporarily stopped its production due to acute shortage of gas.
Authorities of CUFL run by BCIC stopped the production around 8.00pm on Tuesday.
The company will incur a loss of Tk two crore every day due to closure of the production, sources said.
Earlier, after being closed for a week due to a mechanical problem, the factory was reopened last Sunday night, but after only two days of operation, the factory was closed again due to lack of gas, the authorities said.
CUFL Managing Director Engineer Md. Aktaruzzaman said that the production of the factory has been suspended due to the lack of gas supply. This factory has the capacity to produce one thousand 700 metric tons of fertilizer per day. Due to stoppage of production, the factory will incur a loss of around two crore taka daily. The factory will go into production again after available gas supply.
