DPDC asked to enhance digital technology

State Minister for Power, Energy and Mineral Resources Nasrul Hamid has directed the officials of the Dhaka Power Distribution Company Ltd (DPDC) to enhance to exploit digital technology .



Dhaka, Dec 12 : State Minister for Power, Energy and Mineral Resources Nasrul Hamid has directed the officials of the Dhaka Power Distribution Company Ltd (DPDC) to enhance its move to exploit digital technology for improving customer services.

He made the directives while addressing a function at Bidduyt Bhaban in the city to observe “Digital Bangladesh Day 2021” on Sunday.

“You have to increase the use of technology to turn the DPDC into a modern entity,” he told the officials.

He mentioned that other power distribution companies are getting digitalised to increase their service.

The function, with DPDC managing director Bikash Dewan in the chair, was also addressed by Power Secretary Habibur Rahman.

DPDC is one of the two distribution companies having 1.25 million customers in Dhaka city.

It is mainly responsible for power distribution in the city’s South-West and central part.

Nasrul Hamid suggested the DPDC officials take up more customer-friendly projects to offer prompt services.

He also asked them for emphasis on implementing projects to take the overhead power lines underground, reports UNB.
