RU student loses studentship over sexual harassment

Rajshahi, May 31 The authority of the Rajshahi University (RU) has canceled studentship of a student for involvement in sexual harassment. The decision was made at the 480th university syndicate meeting on Thursday The expelled student is Nazmul Chowdhury Shishir, a 2nd-year student of the department.
Dr. Abdul Alim, member of the syndicate confirmed the matter to the Greenwatch Dhaka.
Earlier, the academic committee of Law Department submitted a complaint to the university’s sexual harassment and abuse prevention committee against a student of the department allegedly for sexually harassing some female students of the department.
The victim-students also submitted separate complaints to the university vice-chancellor Professor M Abdus Sobhan, pro-vice chancellor Professor Ananda Kumar Saha, student’s adviser Professor Zannatul Ferdous, law faculty dean Professor Abu Naser Md Wahid and department chair Professor Mohammad Abdul Hannan, seeking immediate punitive measurements against Shishir. — RU Correspondent
