Dhaka, Jan 6 - The male family members of the July-August uprising martyrs will be exempted from the minimum 65 years age requirement while purchasing family savings certificates.
The Internal Resources Division on Monday issued a notification in this regard.
Earlier, the National Board of Revenue had issued a special order on January 5 exempting the family members of the martyrs of the July Uprising from the obligation to file an income tax return in case of purchasing savings certificates with the money received as state assistance.
Currently there is an obligation to be at least 65 years old for a male person to purchase family savings certificate.
As a result of the issuance of these two notifications, male and female members of the family of the martyrs of the July Uprising can purchase family savings certificates with government grant money without having to file an income tax return, according to an NBR press release.
It is to be noted that according to the existing provisions, women of any age can purchase family savings certificates.
Therefore, the government relaxed the existing age limit for male buyers from martyr families. - UNB
