Hindus rally at Shahbagh protesting attacks on their community

Members of the Hindu community of Bangladesh held a protest rally at Shahbagh on Friday to protest attacks and vandalism targeting Sanatan religious people, residents, and temples.

People from Shahbagh and nearby areas thronged the place in the afternoon of August 9.
From the rally, they claimed demands to ensure their representation at the policy-making level and community safety.
They demand to form of a ministry for the people of minority communities, to form a minority protection commission, to formulate and implement Strict laws to prevent all kinds of attacks against minorities. to allocate 10 percent of parliamentary seats to the minority people, reports UNB.
Nayan Chakraborty, who participated in the movement, said that this country belongs to everyone. "We want safety here. We have no problem with Jamaat or anyone else coming to power. But we want security of our residence and religious establishment," he said.
Echoing the same thoughts, another protester named Jaydev Kumar said, "We have gathered here from all over the country. We want the security of our residences and religious establishments. May our demand be accepted as soon as possible."
