Seminar on Inhuman killings in Gaza and the silent Muslim World



Speakers at a seminar on Saturday demanded the introduction of scholarships from Bangladesh for Palestinian students to study engineering, medicine and different vocational courses to be equipped to build threir country.

They expressed their disgust that the Muslim World remained by an large unmoved despite the genocide in and total destruction of Gaza during the last 15 plus months. The seminar was organized by the Prime Civil Society at the Supreme Court Bar Association Auditorium by the Prime Civil Society. 

Editor of the Daily Amar Desh, Mahmudur Raman was the chief guest at the seminar which was also addressed by Ahmed Abdul Quader, secretary general, Islami Khelafar Majlis, Mostafa Tariqul Hasan, SG, Islami Andolan, Iktedar Ahmed, former Registrar General, Bangladesh Supreme Court, Mostafa Kamal Majumder, editor, GreenWatch Dhaka, Advocate Ruhul Amin Bhuiyan, Lt. Col, Ferdous Aziz pscg (retd), Advocate Munur Hossain and Adv Md Shamsuddin among others.

The seminar was marked by the screening of a short documentary on the genocide in Gaza and little response to it by Muslim leaders to stop the same. Instead some Muslim Countries worked like friends of Israel which perpetrated the killings.

Mahmudur Rahman said that protests against the Gaza was and the wanton killings were more in western Christian countries than in countires like Bangladesh. While South Africa filed a case against the genocide in the International Court of Justice Ireland government and its institutions remained vocal against the war from the beginning to the end.

He said that Israel would have stopped the war within hours had five major Muslim countries – Saudi Arabia, Iran, Turkey, Pakistan and Indonesia – unitedly made this demand. He said that democracy should be introduced in the Muslim countries while international organisations of muslim countries be reorganized to be sensitive to repression of muslims like the Palestinians.

Mostafa Kamal Majumder said that the genocide notwistanding, the Gazans proved the Palestine issue was not dead that Israwel and its allies desired, they withdsood the 15-month war and even managed to keep a majority of hostages alive, and the truced had to be signed Hamas that Israeli Prime Minister Netanyahu vowed to exterminate. 

Referring to the genocide case filed by South Africa against Israel and its leaders, he said the civil society in Bangladesh should now organize people’s humanitarian response to the Palestinian war victims and the government should offer scholarships to their children to study engineering, medicine and other trades and be able to rebuild their country.
