Stock markets Monday finished the session of the week flat as the major indices of the both Dhaka and Chittagong stock exchanges showed no significant rise amid lower activities of large-cap securities.

The benchmark index of the Dhaka bourse closed the day with 1.72 points up at 6,277.89. The Shariah DSES and the blue-chip DS30 also followed the same trend with 1.55 point up at 1,361.48 and with 0.73 point up at 2,136.23.

Turnover, the crucial indicator of the market, decreased to Taka 4,387.30 million which was Taka 5,395.83 million at the previous session of the week.

Out of 302 issues traded, 77 declined, 67 advanced and 158 remained unchanged on the DSE trading floor.

TOSRIFA continued to top the turnover list, followed by SEAPEARL, FUWANGFOOD, SONALIANSH and GEMINISEA.

TOSRIFA was the top gainer, posting a 9.80 per cent gain while KBPPWBIL was the day's worst loser, losing 9.04 per cent.

The Chittagong Stock Exchange (CSE) also slipped into the red with the CSE All Share Price Index - CASPI -gaining 2.81 points to settle at 18,591.76.

Of the issues traded, 39 declined, 40 advanced and 65 issues remained unchanged on the CSE trading floor.

The port city's bourse traded 36.92 lakh shares and mutual fund units with a turnover value worth over Taka 11.86 crore.
