Stock Market: Indices surge as most company stocks gain in early trading

Dhaka, 20 Jan  - All three indices of the Dhaka Stock Exchange (DSE) witnessed an upward trend in the first hour of trading on Monday, with the majority of listed companies seeing price increases.

During the initial hour of the second trading day of the week, DSE's benchmark index, DSEX, gained 23 points.

Similarly, the Shariah-compliant DSES index and the blue-chip DS30 index each rose by 8 points.

In the first hour, trading turnover at DSE amounted to Tk 160 crore. Out of the traded companies, share prices of 245 companies increased, 77 declined, and 62 remained unchanged.

Meanwhile, the Chittagong Stock Exchange (CSE) also recorded a positive start to the day. The CSE All Share Price Index (CASPI) climbed by 24 points during the same period.

On the CSE, 44 companies saw their share prices rise, 27 experienced declines, and 13 remained unchanged.

The total turnover at CSE in the first hour stood at Tk 44.42 lakh.

Both stock exchanges reflect optimism in early trading, as investors respond positively to market conditions.
