T-Aman farming exceeds target in Joypurhat

T-Aman farming exceeds target in Joypurhat

Farmers of the district are now expecting a bumper production of Transplanted Aman (T-Aman) paddy in the district as they have already exceeded this year’s cultivation target of the crop.Additional 3,165 hectares of land have been brought under the T-Aman paddy cultivation during the current season.Department of Agricultural Extension (DAE) set a target to cultivate T-Aman paddy on 68,455 hectares of land in the district with a plan for producing 2.13 lakh tonnes of rice.
But, the farmers have successfully brought 71,620 hectares of land under the cultivation programme taking advantage of favorable climatic conditions.
Department of Agriculture Extension (DAE) sources said the production of the paddy is quite satisfactory this season.  Harvesting of the T-Aman early variety BRRI Dhan 33, 39, 49 and Bina-7 paddy have began from the last week of October.The government has engaged with its all efforts and resources to make the programme successful for ensuring the country’s food security and taken special steps to increase rice production under the government’s
special action plan this year, they added.The experts have been conducting various training and awareness building activities at the grassroots level to educate the farmers in popularising the use of granular urea to ensure optimum use of urea in T-Aman fields.All concerned authorities have been working satisfactorily to timely complete the special steps for smooth and successfully T- Aman farming on a larger scale aimed at ensuring increased food production. -BSS, Joypurhat
