Shuttlers lose all pre quarterfinals

Dhaka, 19 Dec - It was another disappointing day as Bangladeshi shuttlers lost all their pre quarterfinals of the Younex-sunrise Bangladesh Sr. Int'l Badminton Series held at Shaheed Tajuddin Ahmed Indoor Stadium in the capital Thursday.

In the mixed doubles events, Mowazzam Hossain Ohidul and Bristy Khatun pair of Bangladesh lost to Navin Bokka and Rittika Thakur pair of India 21-10, 21-13 while Al Amin Jumar and Urmy Akter pair of Bangladesh lost to Rahul Azad Valuri and Jhahnavi J Shetty pair of India 21-13, 10-21, 21-19.

In the women's doubles pre quarterfinal match, Methana Madhurja Biswas and SK Pritha of Bangladesh lost to their Thai rivals Kochdapron Chaichana and Pannaye Polium pair 21-4-21-6.

A total of 140 shuttleres -- 112 of men's and 28 of women's -- from 14 countries are participating in the five-day meet.

The participating countries are India, Indonesia, Malaysia, Thailand, Canada, Vietnam, Uganda, Japan, Sri Lanka, America, England, Singapore, Ukraine and host Bangladesh.
