Tourists will be allowed to visit Saint Martin’s Island starting 1 November this year, officials announced. The statement was made on Thursday by Sheikh Bashir Uddin, Adviser to the Ministry of Civil Aviation and Tourism, during a press briefing at the Secretariat in observance of World Tourism Day.

“The tourism season at Bangladesh’s only coral island, Saint Martin’s, will begin in November and continue until February next year,” the adviser said.

He added, “Saint Martin’s will remain open to tourists from November to February. However, during November and December, visits will be limited to daytime only. Tourists will be allowed to stay overnight on the island in January and February.”

Speaking about the third terminal of Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport, Sheikh Bashir Uddin said, “The process of opening the terminal is under review. However, no specific date has been set yet.”

He further noted that the terminal cannot be opened until all construction activities are fully completed and handed over by the foreign contractor involved.
