
Deputy Speaker of Parliament Barrister Kaysar Kamal
Deputy Speaker of the Jatiya Sangsad Barrister Kayser Kamal will leave Dhaka tonight to attend the 69th Commonwealth Parliamentary Conference (CPC), scheduled to be held in Cape Town, South Africa, from September 13 to 19.
A five-member Bangladesh parliamentary delegation, led by Deputy Speaker Kayser Kamal will participate in the conference.
The delegation includes BNP MPs Humam Quader Chowdhury and Sakila Farzana, Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami MP Md. Mahbubul Alam and Secretary of the Bangladesh Parliament Secretariat Barrister Md. Golam Sarwar Bhuiyan, who will serve as secretary to the delegation.
Parliamentarians and representatives from Commonwealth countries will take part in the conference, which will focus on the theme, "Strengthening International Law and Parliamentary Democracy in a Changing World Order: Commonwealth Leadership."
During the conference, the Deputy Speaker is scheduled to hold bilateral meetings with Speaker of Pakistan's National Assembly Sardar Ayaz Sadiq and Premier of South Africa's Western Cape province Alan Winde.
The Bangladesh delegation may also hold meetings with representatives of other participating countries and engage with Commonwealth Parliamentary Conference leaders in various workshops aimed at strengthening parliamentary democracy.
The delegation is scheduled to return to Dhaka on September 20, reports BSS.
