Maldives offers diverse tourism options for travellers: Envoy

Maldivian High Commissioner to Bangladesh Shiuneen Rasheed on Thursday highlighted the Maldives' diverse tourism offerings, ranging from luxury resorts and liveaboards to island-hopping and affordable stays on local islands.

She said the variety of options allows visitors to experience the warmth and culture of local communities.

The high commissioner made the remarks while speaking as a special guest at the inaugural ceremony of the 13th Asian Tourism Fair in Dhaka.

She also highlighted the Maldives' continued participation in the tourism fair, noting that the country's varied tourism offerings make it an attractive and accessible destination for different types of travellers.

Civil Aviation and Tourism Minister M Rashiduzzaman Millat spoke at the event as the chief guest.

The three-day 13th Asian Tourism Fair (ATF) 2026, showcasing travel and tourism offerings from home and abroad, began at the International Convention City Bashundhara (ICCB) on Thursday.

Endorsed by the Ministry of Civil Aviation and Tourism and supported by the Bangladesh Parjatan Corporation and the Bangladesh Tourism Board, this year's fair is featuring over 200 organisations from 10 countries, including Bangladesh, across nearly 300 booths in three halls.

Hotels, resorts, tour operators, travel agents, airlines, public and private tourism bodies, and foreign missions are showcasing their products and services along with attractive offers for visitors.

Cultural performances from Bangladesh, Nepal and the Philippines will be held every evening.
