MBTACN opens a new chapter in Malaysia–Bangladesh Relations

Dhaka, 28 September 2026: The Malaysia–Bangladesh Tourism, Arts & Cultural Network (MBTACN) was inaugurated today at Alliance Française de Dhaka, creating a new platform to strengthen people-to-people connectivity and cooperation between Malaysia and Bangladesh.

MBTACN opens a new chapter in Malaysia–Bangladesh Relations 

Drawing on a long-standing journey of friendship, travel, professional engagement and cultural exchange between the two countries, MBTACN seeks to transform individual relationships into broader institutional and people-to-people cooperation. 

The network will promote cultural festivals, art and photography/painting exhibitions, film and literary exchanges, culinary programmes, student and academic exchanges, tourism cooperation, healthcare connections and youth initiatives. 

With its slogan Bridging People. Celebrating Culture. Inspiring Tourism, MBTACN envisions a stronger and more vibrant Malaysia–Bangladesh friendship through meaningful collaboration and shared experiences. 

His Excellency Mr. Hazwan Hasnol, Chargé d’Affaires, High Commission of Malaysia in Dhaka, attended as the Guest of Honour, while Barrister Mutasim Billah Faruqui, Chief Executive Officer, Bangladesh Tourism Board, attended as the Special Guest. Syed Yahya Syed Othman, former Regional Director of Tourism Malaysia and founding member of MBTACN, joined the ceremony virtually and delivered his remarks through a video message from Putrajaya, Malaysia. 

The welcome address was delivered by Mr. François Chambraud, Director, Alliance Française de Dhaka, while the session was chaired by Md. Abdus Samad, Senior Adviser, MBTACN.

Hosted by and under the leadership of Abu Sufian, Executive Chairman of MBTACN and Editor & Publisher of Travel Magazine VROMON, the network aims to connect tourism, education, culture, healthcare, arts, business, youth, research and community engagement. – Press release
