"Mujib's Bangladesh Festival Kuakata" is over

Patuakhali: The two-day festival "Mujib's Bangladesh Festival Kuakata" concluded with a seminar on the role of stakeholders in tourism development. On this occasion, Bangladesh Tourism Corporation and Bangladesh Tourism Board organized a seminar with the participants in Hotel Graver Inn hall room on Saturday morning. Chairman of Bangladesh Tourism Corporation (Grade-1) Md. Rahat Anwar was the chief guest at the seminar.

Additional Deputy Commissioner of Patuakhali Mohammad Obaidur Rahman, Kuakata Press Club President Nasir Uddin Biplab, Kuakata Hotel Motel Owners Association General Secretary MA Motaleb Sharif, Kuakata Tourist Police Zone Inspector Abu Sahadat Hanain Parvez and others were special guests in the seminar organized under the chairmanship of Bangladesh Tourism Board Executive Officer Abu Taher Mohammad Jaber Patwari. Ruman Imtiaz Tushar, president of Towak, presented the article on the occasion.

Earlier on Friday night, the tourists and visitors enjoyed various events including lantern festival, charming dance of Rakhines, puppet dance, football, kite festival, Organized by the Tourism Board and the Ministry of Civil Aviation and Tourism, hundreds of lanterns were flown over the beach.

In addition, Barisal's regional produce and spicy food are displayed through more than half a hundred stalls on the beach. To establish the country's tourism industry as a profitable industry, this festival will continue to spread the history, tradition and tourism industry of each category among the people of the country and abroad.

Meanwhile, according to the local publicity campaign around the event, the organizers could not win over the tourists. There was no cultural program later in the evening. The visiting tourists turned away disappointed. The Kuakata Festival ends with just one seminar on the second day. The visitors are disappointed in this simple arrangement. The food packets distributed to the participants of the seminar on Friday afternoon were spoiled. Most of those who were given it threw away the food. Many of the locals, who did not wish to reveal their names, said that according to the budget, very simple arrangements have been made.

Journalist Hossain Amir, Director of Kuakata Artists Group, said that the artists of Kuakata Artists Group have been entertaining tourists and locals through stage programs and musical atmosphere at various government events. They were not invited to the Kuakata festival this time.

A leader of Kuakata Municipal Awami League, who did not wish to be named, complained that the local Awami League was not invited to the event. They have been given the responsibility of invitation. They are active in BNP politics. He also complained, on the occasion of this festival, the banner festoons at different places on the road have been defaced with Mujib's spelling. Later, when the municipal Awami League informed the UNO and Tourism Board, those banner festoons were removed on Friday night.

President of Kuakata Municipal Awami League and former municipal mayor said that they do not know anything about the tourism board program. Many of the local officials in the event are directly involved in the anti-government movement. This has created anger in the local Awami League.

Kuakata Municipality Mayor Anwar Hawladar also expressed his anger, saying that he and his municipal council have been devalued. - Gofran Biswas Palash
