As Eid approaches, the city has seen a massive uptick in bookings, with hotels and guesthouses filling up quickly. With reservations extending until April 12, more than 55% of available rooms in over 500 hotels, resorts, and cottages have already been claimed, and the remaining spaces are expected to fill up before March 31.

The town’s hospitality infrastructure can accommodate up to 187,000 visitors daily, painting a vibrant picture of a bustling, dynamic city brimming with life and celebration. Ajmal Huda, Director of the Cox’s Bazar Chamber of Commerce and Industry, estimates that around 500,000 to 600,000 visitors will flock to the coastal town during the extended Eid festivities. If the political landscape remains stable, this figure could even rise further, further energizing the region’s festive atmosphere.

In addition to the surge in visitors, Huda has called for greater vigilance against unfair pricing, urging local authorities to ensure that hotels, eateries, and transport services offer reasonable rates.

Md. Abul Kashem, President of the Hotel Motel Owners Association, shared that nearly 80% of rooms in the city’s luxury hotels have already been reserved. To maintain transparency and ensure fair pricing, many establishments have begun prominently displaying room rates, and visitors are encouraged to double-check costs before finalizing their bookings. Additionally, several businesses have introduced convenient online booking options to make the reservation process as smooth as possible.
Enhanced Security Measures for a Safe and Enjoyable Experience

With the large number of tourists expected, local authorities have ramped up security measures to ensure a safe and hassle-free experience. Additional Superintendent of Police (Traffic), Jasim Uddin Chowdhury, assured visitors that law enforcement is committed to preventing theft, robberies, and traffic congestion, guaranteeing a smooth holiday.

Cox’s Bazar Deputy Commissioner Mohammad Salauddin confirmed that multiple mobile courts would be deployed to monitor hotel prices and ensure that businesses uphold fair practices. Immediate action will be taken against anyone found guilty of price gouging or harassment.

On the sandy beaches, 60 lifeguards will be on duty to safeguard beachgoers, while Nihad Adnan Tayan, acting Superintendent of Cox’s Bazar Tourist Police, assured visitors that a comprehensive security network would be in place. Tourist police will be stationed at key locations across the city, including the beach, ensuring round-the-clock protection for all visitors.
