Bangladesh, US Begin 3-Day Talks on Tariff and Trade

The second round of three-day tariff talks between Bangladesh and the United States began in Washington DC on Wednesday.

Described as wide-ranging and in-depth, the first day of discussions covered nearly all key aspects of bilateral trade, according to an official update.

Commerce Adviser Sk Bashir Uddin is leading the Bangladesh delegation in Washington. National Security Adviser Dr Khalilur Rahman and the Chief Adviser’s Special Assistant on ICT and Telecommunications, Faiz Ahmed Tayeb, joined the talks virtually from Dhaka.

Senior officials from the Commerce Ministry are also attending the meetings.

On the US side, top officials from the departments of agriculture, energy, commerce, and intellectual property are participating in the talks.

The dialogue will resume at 9pm Bangladesh time on Thursday and continue through Friday.
