Ferry services on the Shimulia-Majhirkandi route resumed on Tuesday morning after 11 hours of suspension.

Ferry services on the Shimulia-Majhirkandi route resumed on Tuesday morning after 11 hours of suspension.
Salah Uddin Ahmed, manager of the Majhirkandi office of the Bangladesh Inland Water Transport Corporation (BIWTC), said, "The movement of the ferry resumed from 6 am which has been kept stopped since 6:30 am on Monday to avert any untoward incident due to strong currents in the Padma River."
This is the second day in a row that the authorities decided to stop operating ferries at night due to the unfavourable condition.
The authorities suspended the ferry movement on the route from 10 pm on Sunday to 6 am on Monday and then again stopped from 6:30 pm on Monday to 6:30 am on Tuesday.
Meanwhile, more than 500 vehicles, including passenger buses, got stuck in the Majhikandi Ghat area following the suspension.
Passengers, drivers, and vehicle workers had to wait for hours amid the rain.
