Pyra starts journey as deep sea port

Patuakhali: Payra Port Authority Chairman Rear Admiral M. Sohail said, '75 km length and 5 km width outer and inner anchorage facility with 10.5 meter channel depth Payra Sea Port led the journey to the deep sea port by stopping all misinformation and conspiracy under the leadership of  Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina. In future, multipurpose terminal (1200m), container terminal (1400m), liquid bulk terminal, coal terminal, LNG terminal are being connected to the first terminal in the port.

Today Sunday (March 26) at 11:30 a.m. on the Great Independence Day, after the capital dredging of Rabnabad channel was completed by Jan De Nul at a cost of Tk 6.5 thousand crore. Payra Port is being developed with technology. Within a day or two directly the mother vessel will make other discharges at the port's fast terminal without the lighter vessel. Foreign ships with a capacity of 60,000 metric tons will arrive at Payra port terminal in the first week of next May. Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina is scheduled to inaugurate this operational program.

At the ceremony of handing over the Rabnabad channel to the Port Authority by Jan De Nul, a Belgium-based contractor, the member of parliament, Principal Md. Mohibbur Rahman, said that Payra Sea Port has become one of the best ports in the world from today. This port will create employment for millions of people and improve the quality of life. For this, he expressed his gratitude to the country's precious Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina on behalf of the residents of the southern region.

Port Scheme Director Commodore Rajib Tripura said that after 14 months of research and analysis of the data received by several organizations of international standards, excavation work of Rabnabad channel has been completed by designing an international standard channel. By using this channel, large PANMAX shaped ships with length of 225 meters and width of 32 meters will be able to come directly to Pyara port with 40-50 metric tons of products.

Payra port sources said that the revenue of the port will increase if the fast terminal of the port is completed in May. Through this capacity of the port, Bangladesh's foreign trade will be greatly expanded and new horizons will begin in the economy. With the country's first smart sea port's smart service, low tariff and the facility of goods transportation by road, river and sea, domestic and foreign investors have already invested in various profitable large projects including setting up industrial factories, solar panel plants, ship breaking industry, dock yards. Port sources also said that Payra Port started sailing on 15th November 2013. Payra Port started operational activities from 2019. 800 crores of income from Payra sea port in the last one year.
