Two bogies of Sylhet-bound train Udayan Express derailed after being hit by a leaning tree early Saturday (May 20).
The incident took place at Lawachara National Park in Kamalganj of Moulvibazar.
No casualties were reported in this connection.
Due to the train accident, rail communication with Dhaka and Chattogram has also been suspended.
Md Jahangir Hossain, general manager of the east zone of Bangladesh Railway, said that when the train from Chattogram came to Lawachara National Park, the coach derailed after colliding with a tree leaning on the railway line.
As a result of this, rail communication with Sylhet, Chattogram and Dhaka has been suspended.
Confirming the matter, Sylhet railway manager Nurul Islam said efforts to restore the rail service are underway.
