According to the police and drivers, the pressure of vehicles on the Dhaka-Tangail-Bangabandhu Bridge highway has been increasing since Thursday evening. A Dhaka-bound pickup full of chicken overturned on the road in Madarjani area of Sadar upazila at midnight. At that time, the traffic through the Dhaka-bound lane was stopped.
On the other hand, the wheel of a Dhaka-bound truck broke down at Kamakshar Mor area of Kalihati upazila. Before the truck could be removed, the traffic jam was caused by the vehicles moving in the opposite direction.
In this regard, Elenga Highway Police Outpost in-charge Zahid Hasan said that on Thursday night, the traffic congestion was caused due to the increased pressure of vehicles and vehicles breaking down at various points on the highway. Police are working to clear the traffic jam.
He also said that the traffic will become normal as the day progresses.
