Vehicular movement on Tangail-Delduar Road resumed eight days.
Vehicular movement on Tangail-Delduar Road resumed eight days after the bailey bridge on a canal in Dulla area, better known as Dulla Bailey Bridge, under Delduar upazila in Tangail collapsed due to the heavy weight of a sand laden truck.
The vehicular movement on the bridge resumed from 8pm on Friday (September 15), according to a source of the Roads and Highways Department (RHD).
Aliul Hossain, executive engineer of the Roads and Highways Department, said, “The bridge was repaired eight days after the collapse and opened to the public from yesterday night.”
A signboard was installed on both sides of the bridge, banning vehicles having heavy weight through the bridge, he added.
Earlier on the night of Friday (September 8), the bailey bridge collapsed on a canal in the Dulla area of Delduar upazila in Tangail under the weight of a sand-laden truck, suspending vehicular movement on Tangail-Delduar road.
The commuters have been enduring immense sufferings to cross the place on Tangail-Delduar road as the vehicular movement on the road remained suspended since the collapse.
