Joypurhat, Dec 16 - Miscreants set fire to a Parbatipur-bound mail train in Joypurhat last night, on the eve of Victory Day.

The train was set on fire on the way from Jamalganj Railway Station and reached Joypurhat Station while it was still burning.

Shantahar Railway Police Officer-in-Charge Muktar Hossain confirmed the matter.

The incident occurred around 11:50 pm on Friday when the train, named "Uttara Express," was en route to Joypurhat from Jamalganj. Although a few seats in one bogie were engulfed in flames upon arrival at Joypurhat Railway Station, prompt action by station and fire service personnel prevented any significant damage or casualties, said the OC.

Master Rezaul Islam of Joypurhat Railway Station, said after the fire was extinguished, the train resumed its journey to its destination without any further disruptions. The matter is being investigated. - UNB
